Weekly or every other week through the growing season, usually May to October up here. Cut at the right height, trimmed around the obstacles, and the clippings blown off the paths, driveway and deck before Tim leaves.
Edging along the driveway, paths and garden beds is what makes a mowed lawn look finished. Tim pulls the weeds out of the beds too, so the whole yard looks looked-after, not just the grass.
Spring clean-ups get rid of what the winter left behind: matted grass, sticks, sand and plow damage on the lawn edges. Fall clean-ups get the yard ready to sit under snow for five months.
A big wind or a heavy storm can leave the yard full of branches, sticks and junk. Tim clears it off the lawn, beds and driveway and takes it away, so you're not dragging limbs around all weekend.
Leaves left on the lawn over winter smother the grass and leave dead patches in spring. Tim clears the leaves and debris and takes it all away.
Blocked gutters overflow in the rain and freeze solid in the cold, which is how ice dams start. Tim scoops them out and checks the downspouts are running.
When the mowing season ends, Tim swaps the mower for the plow truck. Same guy, same number, all winter.
